We are happy to provide a dental implant service in association with Seddon Dental Implants. Ian Seddon BDS is a Private dentist who has been placing and restoring dental implants since 1994. Seddon Dental Implants carry out implant surgery wholly privately at a number of dental practices across South Wales and the South of England. The second phase of the treatment following successful osseointegration of the implant is provided by Dr Downie who restores the implants with crowns and bridges.
At Crabtree road, we use the best products available to us when offering Facial Aesthetics. All treatments are carried out by our principal dentist Dr Downie.
Dr Downie has provided these treatments for several years and prides herself on full consultation discussing all treatments and options, so the patient is fully informed and happy. She is keen to take a natural approach, whist making sure the patient is 100% satisfied.
Dr Downie uses wrinkle relaxation injections and dermal fillers to enhance natural beauty. She also provideds hyperhydrosis treatment for excessive underarm sweating.
Our principal dentist Dr Downie performs inhalation sedation and intravenous sedation for anxious patients at our practice.
Inhalation sedation uses nitrous oxide (gas an air) to relax patients and is a popular choice for children, mildly anxious adults and those with a sensitive gag relex.
Intravenous sedation with midazolam provides a conscious sedation for more anxious patients or for more difficult procedures.
At Crabtree we have a family friendly approach. The environment is calm and reassuring. Children of all ages are welcome and ours dentists have an excellent rapport with children. It is important to attend routine dental appointments from a young age, so that good habits follow on. We can provide diet and tooth brushing advice along with advice for parents and babies.
In this practice we usually advise patients to whiten their teeth by providing patients with custom made trays and whitening kits that they can take away and do at home conveniently and at their own pace. The results can be quite dramatic, the cost of this treatment is £350.
At your first visit we will discuss the possible options with you and take the existing shade of your teeth. We will also take some impressions of your teeth so that we can make special custom trays to hold the bleaching material around your teeth. At your second visit we will reassess the tooth shade, give you your custom trays and provide you with verbal and written instructions on how to carry out tooth whitening.
If you think that whitening may be the answer why not discuss this your next examination appointment.
Dental Therapist and Hygienist
Our team at Crabtree Road dental includes our lovely dental therapist Miss Eleanor Taylor. Miss Taylor comes from a wealth of experience and knowledge and provides a range of dental care for both adults and children. She also provides inhalation sedation and has experience working in the hospital environment.
We also have a dental hygienist available at the practice, Ms Diane Paton. She has a wealth of experience and caries out a large part of our preventive programme at the practice ensuring that mouths remain clean and healthy. Ms Paton has been a hygienist with us for over 20 years and we have found that during that time the number of patients requiring extensive clinical interventions has been substantially reduced both from a caries (decay) and a periodontal (gum) point of view. Apart from scaling and polishing she can also advise on diet, oral hygiene products and may assist in the management of gum disease. She also utilises air polishers as a gentle way of removing heavy tooth staining.
Clearsmile braces are a simple, gentle, minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that corrects alignment issues with the top and bottom front six teeth, and can level and round out the arches, thus satisfying the needs of the vast majority of adult patients who seek orthodontic treatment.
Clearsmile braces use clear orthodontic brackets and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires. The treatment works much like that using clear aligners, but tooth movement is much more predictable and usually more than twice as quick.
It is a fast, effective and affordable treatment when adults are seeking to correct their smiles. Because we do not claim to address major orthodontic issues, IAS can be done very quickly, making it more affordable than all other orthodontic options.
Clearsmile brace takes less time than conventional orthodontics because it focuses only on the “social six”, the front teeth that most influence the smile. The process is further enhanced with the use of special nickel-titanium wires, which exert gentle pressure to force movement in the teeth.
